Graduate Student receives Travel Award
Kristina Whately, graduate student in Elena Pugacheva's lab, was awarded a travel award and free registration to the 2nd Joint EACR-MRS Conference
Kristina Whately, graduate student in Elena Pugacheva's lab, was awarded a travel award and free registration to the 2nd Joint EACR-MRS Conference on Seed and Soil: Mechanisms of Metastasis. This is a joint conference organized by the European Association for Cancer Research (EACR) and Metastasis Research Society (MRS). Kristina's poster titled: "Aurora-A Kinase getting nuclear: a novel driver of metastasis.", won a poster award at the end of the conference. There were 4 awards given out of 125 posters. In addition to this, Kristina received travel awards from the Biochemistry dept., the Graduate Office and CCB.
Kristina was fortunate to meet Andreas Trumpp, who is a major researcher in the stem cell biology field. Also, she was able to meet and talk with Julio Aguirre-Ghiso, who is a major research pioneer in cancer dormancy.
Pugacheva Lab is very grateful for this support which allows their students to bring international recognition to our institution.
