Grant Memorial Hospital, Potomac Valley Hospital partner with WVU Cancer Institute
On Friday (Dec. 10), two West Virginia hospitals held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to announce the opening of cancer care facilities in partnership with the WVU Cancer Institute.
Grant Memorial Hospital, located in Petersburg, and WVU Medicine Potomac Valley Hospital, located in Keyser, are both opening a new cancer clinic and infusion center in January 2022.
“The WVU Cancer Institute could not be more excited to open these facilities,” said Hannah Hazard-Jenkins, MD, director, WVU Cancer Institute. “We want patients in these communities to have the cancer care they need, right in their own backyard.
“We know that it’s important to be connected physically and emotionally to a strong support system during treatment and recovery, and these facilities will provide that option to patients,” she continued.
The cancer clinics will operate five days a week, with an advanced practice provider on-site, offering infusion therapy and other services based on diagnosis. Oncologist Kevin Shannon, MD – who is also the medical director at the WVU Cancer Institute James and Shirley Bailey Cancer Center at Garrett Regional Medical Center – will see patients at both clinics multiple times a month and offer telemedicine visits daily.
