Health Sciences faculty members to present CoBRE grants during Evening of Science
The Office of Research and Graduate Education and Operation Blue Sky will host an Evening of Science on Thursday, Nov. 9, from 3-5 p.m. at the Health Sciences Center in Morgantown.
The event will feature three presentations from three Health Sciences faculty members, each focused on recent Center of Biomedical Research Excellence (CoBRE) institutional grants. The presenters, who are also the primary investigators for their respective grants, are Courtney DeVries, Ph.D., Paul Lockman, Ph.D., and Visvanathan Ramamurthy, Ph.D.
Dr. DeVries is a professor for the Department of Medicine and Department of Neuroscience, as well as the deputy director of the WVU Cancer Institute and the John T. and June R. Chambers Chair of Oncology Research. Her presentation will focus on stroke.
Dr. Lockman is a professor for the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the School of Pharmacy and the Department of Neuroscience at the School of Medicine. He also serves as the senior associate dean for research and strategic initiatives at the School of Pharmacy and as a faculty member for the WVU Cancer Institute research programs. His presentation will focus on tumor microenvironment.
Dr. Ramamurthy is the chair and a professor for the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine, as well as a professor for the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences. His presentation will focus on vision sciences.
The Evening of Science is an informal gathering hosted by the Office of Research and Graduate Education and Operation Blue Sky, which discusses science in a way that crosses traditional program boundaries by focusing on teams rather than individual efforts. The presentations will be held in Health Sciences North, Room 2940 A. Those wishing to attend are asked to RSVP.
