IMMB internship program highlight
The COVID-19 pandemic has underscored the need for biomedical research, particularly in immunology. The Department of Microbiology, Immunology and Cell Biology internship offers students in the Immunology and Medical Microbiology Program vital experience in cutting edge research projects in microbiology, infectious diseases, immunology, neuro-immunology, vaccinology, cancer cell biology and molecular biology.
Students begin their projects as sophomores and are supported to develop and conduct an independent research project for two years. Students work on research projects directly under the direction of faculty members in the department. Each summer, the students present their research at the Summer Undergraduate Research Symposium, and students are also present their work at regional and national scientific conferences. Upon graduation, many students continue research as they pursue advanced medical or professional degrees.
