Jamie Weller joins Eastern Campus as simulation specialist
David “Jamie” Weller, NRP, BS, AAS, joined the West Virginia University School of Medicine’s Eastern Campus as a simulation specialist in May.
In this role, Weller will provide technological and educational support to medical students who are training in the simulation lab located at the WVU Health Sciences Center Eastern Division in Martinsburg.
“Medical simulation training is always evolving, and the technology behind it will continue to grow for the foreseeable future as it serves as a valuable educational tool for physicians in training,” he said. “I am proud to join this wonderful team and to help introduce the next generation of medical doctors to the benefits of simulation training.”
A Martinsburg native, Weller is a retired firefighter who spent 21 years with the City of Martinsburg Fire Department. During his tenure, he worked his way through the ranks from firefighter and paramedic to lieutenant, captain, and ultimately, a battalion chief.
Weller also previously served as the EMS Director for the City of Martinsburg and spent more than 25 years working for West Virginia Public Service Training, where he provided crucial training to fire departments, EMS, military and law enforcement from across the state. Additionally, he has held a number of state positions throughout his career and currently serves as Chairman of the State EMS Advisory Council.
Weller holds various degrees and certifications, including a BS in business management, an AAS in safety technology and a Certificate in Leadership. He also holds a National Registry Paramedic Certification and is a West Virginia-licensed paramedic.
In his free time, Weller coaches high school football in Berkeley County and enjoys spending time on the water.
