Morgantown Happenings - January 21, 2020

The WVU Internal Medicine Interest Group (IMIG), in coordination with ACP (American College of Physicians) and SGIM (Society of General Internal Medicine), will be hosting "#ProudToBeGIM" week on Tuesday February 25th at 12 PM-1 PM. The goal of this day is to enhance the knowledge and interest of internal medicine to our students. Please join us for an hour of fun, food, giveaways, and prizes as we celebrate Proud to be GIM week. Stay tuned for more information to come.

The Gold Humanism Honor Society will be hosting Solidarity Week for Compassionate Patient Care from February 10th - 14th. Lectures will be held at 12 p.m. in room 1901. More details to follow.

MS4 Class of 2020

MAY COMMENCEMENT DATE UPDATES. Graduation Application is open! You can find instructions to apply at the Registrar’s Webpage. The May 2020 Graduation Ceremony will be Friday, May 15 @7pm in the Creative Arts Center. Hooding/Regalia request form due by February 3rd.

GQ Week will be February 24-28th. Watch for emails from AAMC to complete this important survey. Bring in proof of completion during GQ Week to be entered into a daily drawing!

MS3 Class of 2021

Applications still open for Peds Residency Rural Scholars Program. The deadline for application is January 31, 2020 and interviews will be in the spring 2020. Please contact Dr. Emily Nease or Dr. Linda Nield for more information!

Getting to 4th Year will be held February 3rd at 4pm following your mid-block workshop. We will discuss how to create an M4 schedule, away rotations, rural requirements, etc.

MS2 Class of 2022

White Coat Ceremony will be Saturday, March 21st at the Creative Arts Center beginning at 3pm with a reception to follow at Erickson Alumni Center. Addresses for mailing invitations are due to Gina Slaugenhoup by Friday. M3 Class Physical Exam Skills Sign-up to help prep for upcoming OSCE. Sessions in STEPS exam rooms from 6-8pm on January 27,28, and 29.

The Department of Orthopaedics is pleased to announce a Medical Student Outreach Program on February 14, 2020, which will take place at WVU Medicine. The MSOP event for current medical students in the Morgantown area. Women in first and second year of medical school (MS-1 and MS-2) who are undecided about specialty choice or those definitely interested in exploring careers in orthopaedics are encouraged to apply. In addition to lectures from local women surgeons, participants will also perform two hands-on skills module. The purpose of this free, one-evening program is to connect female medical students with an interest in orthopaedics to like-minded peers and professional mentors. More information about The Perry Initiative. Direct registration for this MSOP event. Registration deadline is January 15, 2020.
