Scholarship Application: CFHI Virtual Global Health Elective

What is the Virtual Global Health Elective?

A newly designed Virtual Global Health Elective is now available for interprofessional final-year health professions trainees (resident physicians, last-year medical students, nurse practitioner, physician assistant, pharmacy, and allied health senior students).

  1. elective allows students to develop global health competencies including low resource clinical reasoning, health systems design, cross-cultural effectiveness & adaptability, Global Health ethics, critical reflection, and much more. When is the Elective Offered?

Electives will be offered for 4 weeks duration in February, March, April, and May 2021. The elective is designed to be a full-time commitment but components will be recorded for those who cannot attend in person.

Who is Eligible to Apply?

Students who enroll in the VSLO-CFHI virtual global health elective from low and middle-income countries, students who are displaced and others in financial need.

How Much is the Scholarship?

CFHI is offering scholarships to cover 100% of the costs of the electives

Scholarship applications are accepted on a rolling basis. FINAL DATE applications accepted: January 15, 2021.

Be sure you are registered for the Spring Semester! Check your DegreeWorks to ensure you’re on track for May graduation. Remember you need 100 hours of Community Service logged on SOLE!

Please mark your calendars for the Getting to 4th Year meeting on Monday, February 1, 2021 at 4:30 via Zoom.

We will be going over all the steps to take to get ready for your 4th year to include, scheduling, VSAS/away rotations, required courses, electives, rural health and CPX. Please be on the watch for a message from Christina prior to the meeting with important documents and information as well as the Zoom meeting ID number. .

Dear Future Pediatricians in the Class of 2022:

The application for the Pediatrics Residency Rural Scholars Program is now open for all MS3's on all campuses. The attachment highlights the tremendous benefits for you if you are chosen to be one of Scholars.

Below is summary of three amazing benefits:

  1. You will receive a $10,000 stipend applied to your Year 4 tuition
  2. You will receive an IPad to enhance your studies and help with your Rural Scholars' project, which you design and lead to improve the lives of the children of WV and beyond
  3. You will earn a position in the WVU Pediatrics Residency Program, thereby avoiding the need to interview during fall of your senior year, saving you up to $12,000 in travel and accommodation costs, eliminating the stress involved in waiting for the Match in March of 2022, and freeing up more time for more electives!
