MS4 Class of 2020

Morgantown Match Day on Friday, March 20 at 10:30am in the Mountain Lair. Match Day Tickets are available for pickup in Christina’s office! Everyone will receive three tickets for the event. If you are in need of extra tickets, check with your classmates to see if anyone will not be using all of their tickets. After all students have picked up their tickets, a few extras may be released.

MAY COMMENCEMENT DATE UPDATES. Regalia orders have been submitted to the HSC Bookstore. Regalia will arrive at the Bookstore early April. The Bookstore CANNOT accept credit card payments over the phone. You can either pay by check or pay with a Barnes and Noble gift card. The May 2020 Graduation Ceremony will be Friday, May 15 @7pm in the Creative Arts Center. A reception will immediately follow at the Erickson Alumni Center.

MS3 Class of 2021

Getting to Residency 1.0 will be held after mid-block on Monday, March 30th from 4-5:30pm in 1905. This meeting is the first in our career counseling series. At this meeting, you’ll be given a booklet as your guide to the Match processes.

The WVU Department of Family Medicine is pleased to announce that the applications for its innovative Rural Scholars Program are now available. This program is designed for students committed to making rural/small town Family Medicine in West Virginia a career. Qualified MS III’s are eligible for a $10,000 stipend for their fourth year and facilitated admission to WVU’s Morgantown Family Medicine Residency. The Rural Scholars Program allows for an enhanced primary care experience in the 4th year curriculum as well as early integration into the residency experience. White Coat Ceremony will be Saturday, March 21st at the Creative Arts Center beginning at 3pm with a reception to follow at Erickson Alumni Center. A block of hotel rooms is available at a special WVU rate at Hilton Garden Inn at the Suncrest Towne Center at $104.00 per night. Use this link to get the group rate.

Community and Rural Rotation Support (CARRS) Applications for Blocks 1-3 is open and closes on April 3, 2020. Review CARRS requirements, projects and mentors and apply for the $75 per day stipend at http://www.hsc.wvu.edu/icrh/students/carrs-program. 2020 Trauma & Acute Care Surgery Summer Externship information and application. Deadline is March 15.

Department of Family Medicine and WVU Institute for Community and Rural Health Summer Externship Program! This program offers a dynamic orientation (June 9-11) at HSC followed by a three-week (June 15-July3) clinical experience in a private physician’s office, a group practice and/or hospital setting. Students are pain a stipend (1,500 for a 4-week urban externship or 1,800 for a 4-week rural site) The application survey is available under the “Assessment Tools” tab on the Family Med: Summer Externship Program site.
