Morgantown Happenings: Message of the Week: July 9, 2019

STUDENT ORGANIZATION PRESIDENTS. As we gear up and prepare for the Student Organization Fair Wednesday, 8/7/2019, please have at least three (3) members of your organization ready and prepared to represent your Student Organization in the Fair. We will only meet once this year before the Fair on Monday, July 15, 2019, at 12:00 or 4:00 p.m. Please let me know which time you would like to meet by Monday, 7/8/2019 for the Student Organization Fair Informational meeting. Peer-Assisted Learning Service (PALS tutoring program) is looking for new tutors and leaders. We plan on hiring several peer tutors and two PALS co-leaders who will help organize the PALS program. Tutoring sessions will occur approximately two times each week at a designated time and place. Tutors are not expected to be available each and every session. Tutors will be paid $10 an hour. OSHA and HIPAA must be renewed yearly per hospital requirements. You must renew via SOLE by August 31, 2019.  Upload your completion certificate to your e-value portfolio – Under Competencies – Systems-based Practice – OSHA & HIPPA.

FARMER’S MARKET will be held every Wednesday. This year the market will be moved closer to the HSC North Pylons entrance.

APPOINTMENTS OFFERED for Medical students. Confidential, private appointments for initial assessments, triage and brief interventions for students experiencing life stress, mental illness or problems with alcohol or substance use. MS4 Class of 2020

RADIOLOGY RESIDENCY APPLICATION Prep with Program Directors around the country who will field anonymous questions from students interested in radiology programs.  Wednesday July, 17 from 5:30-7pm in 2276. RSVP to Dr. Hogg.

Residency Explorer is a new free resource that allows applicants to research individual residency programs in 11 specialties* and to compare themselves to applicants who previously matched at those programs. Residency Explorer offers verified data from reputable organizations as an alternative to crowdsourced resources that may not be reliable or trustworthy. Use your AAMC logins to access this resource.

CPX SCHEDULING is now open! You must complete all 3rd year requirements before taking CPX. Sign up in the MS4 Information SOLE site under Communication – Sign up List – CPX. There is a maximum of 12 slots per day. If you are graduating in May 2020, please take the exam between July – November. Prior to test date, you MUST upload your ACLS card to e-value!!

GTR 2.0 – One on One Meetings with the Dean. Watch your email for your Dean assignment and how to schedule your appointment. Remember to have your paperwork sent prior to your appointment

RESIDENCY APPLICATION DATES to remember. September 5 – Applications open; September 15 NRMP opens; October 1 - MSPEs are released to residency programs.

Welcome Class of 2023! Professional & Career Development Week will begin on Wednesday, July 31st. Registration will begin at 7:45 am in the Pylons. Watch the Doc is In for updates.
