Neuroscience professor’s work published in Nature Communications
Scott Galster, Ph.D., director of human performance for the Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute, is co-author of “Quantum confined peptide assemblies with tunable visible to near-infrared spectral range” – a new study appearing in Nature Communications.
The study examines the use of organic quantum confined materials that are tunable and self-assemble into nanostructures that facilitate photobioluminescence to enhance imaging. This technology may, one day, lead to safer and more stable nanoparticles that clinicians could inject into patients to monitor their metabolic activities in real time. They could also prove useful in investigating how neurons respond to stimuli or learning about tumors without performing surgery.
Galster serves as a professor in the Department of Neuroscience. He has a Ph.D. in applied experimental psychology from The Catholic University of America.
