New providers join WVU Medicine

The following providers joined WVU Medicine in August:

MORGANTOWN

ANESTHESIOLOGY

Lu’ay Nubani, MD, joins WVU Medicine as a pediatric anesthesiologist at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital. Dr. Nubani is a former faculty anesthesiologist from SUNY Upstate Medical University, and he completed a pediatric anesthesiology fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.

Grant Neely, MD, joins WVU Medicine as a regional/pain anesthesiologist at Ruby Memorial Hospital. Dr. Neely completed a residency at WVU and a fellowship in regional and acute pain at the University of Virginia Health System.

BEHAVIORAL MEDICINE AND PSYCHIATRY

Bridget Bailey, PhD, LISW, joins WVU Medicine as a faculty social worker at the Chestnut Ridge Center. She earned a PhD and a masters of social work from Ohio State.

Cierra Keith, PhD, joins WVU Medicine as a neuropsychologist at the Chestnut Ridge Center. She completed a clinical neuropsychology fellowship at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center and a PhD in clinical psychology at St. Louis University.

DERMATOLOGY

Vlad Codrea, MD, PhD, joins WVU Medicine as a Mohs surgeon at Ruby. He completed a Mohs micrographic surgery and dermatologic oncology fellowship and a dermatology residency at the University of Texas at Galveston.

EMERGENCY MEDICINE

Michael Shukis, MD, joins WVU Medicine as an emergency medicine physician in the Acute Resource Group at Ruby. He completed an emergency medical services fellowship at Allegheny General Hospital.

Kristine Robinson, MD, joins WVU Medicine as an emergency medicine physician in the Acute Resource Group at Ruby. She was previously an emergency medicine physician at the VA Medical Center.

FAMILY MEDICINE

Ruben Tinajero, MD, joins WVU Medicine as a psychologist at the WVU Medicine University Towne Centre. He completed a pre-doctoral psychology internship at the University of Kansas Medical Center as well as his PhD at the University of Utah.

GASTROENTEROLOGY AND HEPATOLOGY

Caitlin Sullivan, DO, joins WVU Medicine as a digestive diseases specialist. Dr. Sullivan was formerly in private practice in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She completed an internal medicine residency at UPMC Presbyterian and a gastroenterology and hepatology fellowship at the University of Virginia.

HEART AND VASCULAR INSTITUTE

Maxwell Almenoff, MD, joins the WVU Heart and Vascular Institute as a vascular surgeon. He completed a vascular surgery fellowship at the University of Tennessee and a general surgery residency at the University of Missouri.

HOSPITAL MEDICINE

Shubash Adhikari, MD, joins WVU Medicine as a hospitalist at Ruby. He is a former assistant professor in the Department of Medicine at the WVU Charleston Division. He completed an internal medicine residency at UPMC McKeesport.

OPHTHALMOLOGY

Sumeet Gupta, MD, joins the WVU Eye Institute as a glaucoma specialist. He completed a glaucoma fellowship at WVU.

ORTHOPAEDICS

Stephanie Ferimer, MD, joins WVU Medicine Children’s as a pediatric physiatrist. She completed a pediatric rehabilitation medicine fellowship at the University of Cincinnati and a physical medicine and rehabilitation residency at UPMC.

OTOLARYNGOLOGY

William Stokes, MD, joins WVU Medicine as a head and neck surgeon. He completed a head and neck oncology and microvascular reconstruction fellowship at Vanderbilt and an otolaryngology residency at WVU.

PEDIATRICS

Alfred Balasa, MD, joins WVU Medicine Children’s as a pediatric neurologist. He completed a neurology/neurodevelopmental disabilities residency at Baylor College of Medicine.

PULMONARY AND SLEEP MEDICINE

Christopher Pham, DO, joins WVU Medicine as sleep medicine physician at Ruby. He was previously a sleep medicine physician at Womack Army Medical Center. Dr. Pham completed a sleep medicine fellowship at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and a family medicine residency at Martin Army Community Hospital.

RADIOLOGY

Kelly Smith, MD, joins WVU Medicine as a radiologist specializing in abdominal imaging at Ruby. Dr. Smith completed a body magnetic resonance fellowship and a radiology residency at Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, Arizona.

Sarah Bonnet, MD, joins WVU Medicine as a radiologist specializing in breast imaging at Ruby. Dr. Bonnet completed a breast imaging fellowship at UPMC and a radiology residency at Ohio State. She earned her MD at WVU.
 

GLEN DALE

HEART AND VASCULAR INSTITUTE

Chris Allen, MD, joins the WVU Heart and Vascular Institute as an interventional cardiologist and chief of cardiology at Reynolds Memorial Hospital. He was formerly the director of the cardiac catheterization lab and director of the cardiology fellowship program at UPMC Shadyside.
 

MARTINSBURG

HEART AND VASCULAR INSTITUTE

Khola Tahir, MD, is an interventional cardiologist at Berkeley Medical Center. She completed a cardiovascular disease fellowship at UNC Chapel Hill and an interventional cardiology fellowship at Yale New Haven Hospital.

NEUROSURGERY

Jonathan Sherman, MD, joins WVU Medicine as a neurosurgeon at Berkeley Medical Center specializing in neurosurgical oncology. He was an associate professor at George Washington University and an associate member of the GW Institute for Neuroscience.
 

PARKERSBURG

COMMUNITY PRACTICE

Dean Harter, MD, joins WVU Medicine as an orthopedic surgeon at Camden Clark Medical Center. He previously practiced at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, Pennsylvania.  He earned his medical degree at WVU.

Muhammad Husain, MD, joins WVU Medicine as a neurologist at Camden Clark Medical Center. He completed a vascular neurology fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania.    

RADIATION ONCOLOGY

Jeffrey Ryckman, MD, joins WVU Medicine as a radiation oncologist at Camden Clark Medical Center. He completed a radiation oncology residency at the University of Nebraska.

Sharmeen Amin, MD, joins WVU Medicine as a hospitalist at Uniontown Hospital. She completed an internal medicine residency at HCA in Florida.

Kristin Davis, MD, joins WVU Medicine as an emergency medicine physician in the Acute Resource Group at Uniontown Hospital. She completed an emergency medicine residency at WVU.

David Murello, MD, joins WVU Medicine as a non-invasive cardiologist at Uniontown Hospital. He completed an internal medicine residency and a cardiology fellowship at Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Babak Movassaghi, MD, joins WVU Medicine as a neurologist at Uniontown Hospital. He completed a neurophysiology fellowship and a neurology residency at WVU.

Fanny Murken, MD, joins WVU Medicine as a pediatrician. Dr. Murken will practice at the WVU Medicine Waynesburg Clinic. She formerly practiced at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
