New providers join WVU Medicine

The following providers joined WVU Medicine in June:

Morgantown

BEHAVIORAL MEDICINE AND PSYCHIATRY

Laura Aylward, PhD, joins WVU Medicine as a psychologist at the Chestnut Ridge Center. She completed a bariatric psychology fellowship at WVU and earned a PhD in clinical psychology from Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science.

Alexandria Perle, PsyD, joins WVU Medicine as a neuropsychologist at the Chestnut Ridge Center. She previously practiced at Heritage Professional Associates in Hinsdale, Illinois. She earned her master’s degree and Doctor of Psychology degree at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale. She completed a post-doctoral fellowship in neuropsychology at Thomson Memory Center, Hoffman Estates, Illinois.

Jonathan Perle, PhD, joins WVU Medicine as a clinical child and adolescent psychologist at the Chestnut Ridge Center. He earned his PhD and Master of Science degrees in clinical psychology at Nova Southeastern University in Davie, Florida. He completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Baylor/Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston, and then joined Cincinnati Children’s as a staff psychologist. He is a former assistant professor and coordinator of the child and adolescent training emphasis at Midwestern University in Downers Grove, Illinois. He also practiced at Heritage Professional Associates, a private community multispecialty practice, in Hinsdale, Illinois.

CRITICAL CARE AND TRAUMA

Stellman Teter, AGACNP, joins the WVU Medicine Critical Care and Trauma Institute as a nurse practitioner. He has over 15 years of nursing experience, most recently at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital

HEART AND VASCULAR INSTITUTE

Kristyn Gore, NP-C, joins the WVU Heart and Vascular Institute at the Fairmont Medical Center as a nurse practitioner. She most recently worked as a cardiology nurse practitioner at Charleston Area Medical Center. She graduated with her Master of Science in Nursing from Walden University.

HOSPITAL MEDICINE

Jonathan Hall, DO, joins WVU Medicine as a hospitalist at Ruby Memorial Hospital with previous hospitalist experience at the VA Medical Center. 

Brooke Cropper, FNP-C, joins WVU Medicine as a hospitalist at Ruby. She has four years of nursing experience, most recently at Ruby. She received her Master of Science in Nursing at WVU.

Kelsey Zelina, FNP-C, joins WVU Medicine as a hospitalist at Ruby. She has five years of nursing experience, most recently at Ruby. She received her Master of Science in Nursing at WVU.

ORTHOPAEDICS

Emily Courtwright, PA-C, joins WVU Medicine as an orthopaedic surgery physician assistant at Ruby, and she was formerly on the staff at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital.

Bluefield

EMERGENCY MEDICINE

Kerren Elder, MD, joins WVU Medicine as an emergency medicine physician at Bluefield Regional Medical Center. Dr. Elder completed an internal medicine residency at Harbor Hospital Center in Baltimore, Maryland. He also completed a hematology and oncology fellowship at the University of Maryland Cancer Center.

Mark Bezzek, MD, joins WVU Medicine as an emergency medicine physician at Bluefield Regional Medical Center. He completed an internal medicine residency at Mountainside Hospital in Montclair, New Jersey and practiced at VCU Health Community Memorial Hospital.

Beverly Lafferty, FNP-BC, joins WVU Medicine as a nurse practitioner at Bluefield Regional Medical Center. She earned her master’s degree at Marshall University.

Ameneh Lambert, FNP-BC, joins WVU Medicine as a nurse practitioner at Bluefield Regional Medical Center. She earned her master’s degree at Marshall University.

Martinsburg

HEART AND VASCULAR INSTITUTE

Tamara Yeager, FNP-C, joins the WVU Heart and Vascular Institute in the division of electrophysiology at Berkeley Medical Center as a nurse practitioner. She previously practiced at Meritus Family Practice in Hagerstown, Maryland.

Princeton

EMERGENCY MEDICINE

Amos Lane, DO, joins WVU Medicine as the medical director of Emergency Medicine at Princeton Community Hospital. He completed an emergency medicine residency at Charleston Area Medical Center.

Adam Miller, DO, joins WVU Medicine as an emergency medicine physician at Princeton Community Hospital. He completed a family medicine residency at Pikeville Medical Center in Pikeville, Kentucky and the University of Tennessee.

Robert Petrarca, DO, joins WVU Medicine as an emergency medicine physician at Princeton Community Hospital. Dr. Petrarca has worked as an emergency medicine physician in Lewisburg, Beckley, and other hospitals in southern West Virginia. He completed his family medicine residency at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center in Ronceverte, West Virginia.

Richard Stefancic, MD, joins WVU Medicine as an emergency medicine physician at Princeton Community Hospital. He completed an emergency medicine residency at University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Heath Clevinger, FNP-C, joins WVU Medicine as a nurse practitioner at Princeton Community Hospital. He received his master’s degree from Chamberlain University.

Kristin Harmon, PA-C, joins WVU Medicine as a physician assistant at Princeton Community Hospital. She received her master’s degree from Mountain State University. She has worked at Princeton Community Hospital for nine years.

Joe Hendricks, FNP-BC, joins WVU Medicine as a nurse practitioner at Princeton Community Hospital. He was formerly a registered nurse and assistant nursing director at Princeton Community Hospital. He earned his master’s degree from Bluefield College.

Homer Lester, PA-C, joins WVU Medicine as the chief advanced practice provider in the Emergency Department at Princeton Community Hospital. He graduated from the University of Charleston-Beckley.

Nicolas McDuffee, PA-C, joins WVU Medicine as a physician assistant at Princeton Community Hospital. He received his master’s degree from Alderson Broaddus University. He has four years of physician assistant experience in emergency medicine.

Ashley Shehane, PA-C, joins WVU Medicine as a physician assistant at Princeton Community Hospital. She received her master’s degree from Lincoln Memorial University-DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Darrell Shrewsbury, FNP-BC, joins WVU Medicine as a nurse practitioner at Princeton Community Hospital. He received his master’s degree from Wheeling Jesuit University. He has previous experience as a registered nurse and EMT.

Sherri Williams, FNP-BC, joins WVU Medicine as a nurse practitioner at Princeton Community Hospital. She received her master’s degree from WVU. She is also an assistant professor at Bluefield State College.

PRIMARY CARE

Lindsay Toler, FNP-C, joins WVU Medicine as a nurse practitioner at the Mid-Ohio Valley Medical Group. She most recently worked at Health Right. She graduated from WVU with her Doctor of Nursing Practice.

Jennifer Tallman, FNP-C, joins WVU Medicine as a nurse practitioner at the Mid-Ohio Valley Medical Group. She has 18 years of nursing experience and graduated from Tennessee State University.
