New signage about addressing patient safety concerns to be added this week

New guidance from the West Virginia Office of Inspector General, Office of Health Facility Licensure and Certification (OHFLAC) requires hospitals to post signage that provides patients, patient representatives, and healthcare providers directions for reporting patient safety concerns using the hospital’s internal reporting process. Also, the signage will provide contact information for reporting the concerns to OHFLAC.

As a result of the new guidance, hospital staff will begin seeing new signs installed by the Facilities Management Planning, Design and Construction (PDC) team beginning in patient rooms, departments, and staff rest areas this week.

For questions about the guidance or the new signs, please contact Aaron Kocsis, Stephanie Kish, or Michael Sweet at the Center for Quality Outcomes.
