Nomination deadline extended for annual Wilks Award for Excellence in Simulation

The nomination deadline has been extended to Sept. 13 for the annual David H. Wilks Award for Excellence in Simulation.

Named in honor of the late Dr. David Wilks, the award acknowledges the dedication of faculty who set high standards in teaching and learning at the David and Jo Ann Shaw Center for Simulation Training and Education for Patient Safety (STEPS). Wilks, who led the foundation of STEPS at WVU Health Sciences, was nationally recognized as an excellent educator and his passion for simulation was instrumental in establishing the Center’s values that continue today.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • The candidate must have provided instruction at STEPS within the past five years.
  • The candidate must have demonstrated best practice of teaching with simulation.
  • The candidate must have commensurate peer and/or learner evaluations.

The nomination deadline has been extended to Sept. 13. The recipient will be announced during Healthcare Simulation Week, Sept. 16-20.
