OT Alumni Spotlight on Milena Maragos
As part of the ongoing spotlight on Occupational Therapy Month, the WVU Division of Occupational Therapy continues to spotlight the success of alumni.
Milena Maragos, MOT, OTR/L, C/NDT, is making a difference in the lives of her patients in Greenville, SC. An alumnus of the class of 2017, Maragos has specialized in providing care in skilled nursing facilities and inpatient rehabilitation.
Maragos earned advanced credentials as through the Neuro-Developmental Treatment Association as a Certified Neuro-Developmental Therapist (NDT). This certification is focused on facilitating those with neurological disabilities to achieve meaningful participation in life. Through her advancements, she has been recognized as a “Clinician II” on the Encompass Health Therapy Ladder.
Maragos reported that she is honored to pursue the leadership role through the Encompass and AOTA partnership where she has worked together with other professionals at a national level. Within the partnership, she has written an online evidence-based blog regarding Alternative Exercises for Parkinson’s Disease. Soon, her article on Breath Control’s Effect on Daily Activities, Pain Management, and Sleep Hygiene will be published online.
Maragos facilitates the stroke support group, teaches education classes to stroke survivors and their families, and facilitates the Parkinson's support group.
