Recorded information session available for prospective Pivotal Leadership Academy applicants (Updates the application date)

Employees who are interested in applying to the Pivotal Leadership Academy (PLA) can learn more about the program by watching a recorded Information Session WebEx. Information below serves as a reminder about the program from an email sent earlier in November. The application for PLA is anticipated to open by the end of November.

Program Details

WVU Medicine continues to grow and the need for employees who are ready to step into a leadership role is just as in demand. Whether you are based in Morgantown or at one of our many locations across the WVU Medicine System, you may be interested in learning more about WVU Medicine's 2020 Pivotal Leadership Academy (PLA).

PLA utilizes classroom instruction plus team projects to help high-performing employees develop the skills, knowledge, and confidence to become a future leader within the organization. The program will broaden participants' leadership skills and strengthen their capacity to lead, while helping them establish a path for success.

PLA is scheduled to begin in May 2020 and run through December 2020. The monthly sessions will be held in CEOD’s training rooms on University Avenue in Morgantown. Part of the monthly session includes a multi-disciplinary team project. The success of the team project will involve participation in weekly meetings outside of the monthly session. The PLA curriculum aligns to WVU Medicine’s Leadership Competencies Model that provides a framework for a leader’s success.

Last year, the program received more than 180 applications for PLA with only 30 spots in the program. Keep in mind that applicants must meet the following criteria when they submit their application to PLA:

Applicant Criteria (from date of submission):

  • A minimum of one year of employment at WVU Medicine
  • No current disciplinary action for the past rolling 12 months per the Corrective Action Policy (V.230)
  • Not serving in a formal leader position (supervisor or above)

WVU Medicine’s Pivotal Leadership Academy (PLA) will be accepting applications in November and December 2019. Employees interested in learning more about PLA should watch the recorded Information Session WebEx.
