Reminder: App provides COVID-19 assessment for employees

As a reminder, the WVU Medicine app offers a feature that assists employees in determining whether or not they should return to work if experiencing COVID-19 symptoms or a potential exposure. Employees are encouraged to use the app before calling the Employee Health COVID-19 Hotline.

Based on an employee’s answers, the app will let the employee know whether or not it’s okay to report to work that day without restrictions – or if they should call the Employee Health COVID-19 Hotline. Make sure to contact your department leadership if you are prompted to contact Employee Health.

Employees prompted to call the Employee Health COVID-19 Hotline to be assessed should do so immediately. The Hotline (304-974-3200) is available weekdays from 6 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Leave a voice mail during off hours and your message will be returned as soon as possible. Follow your departmental call-off guidelines.

If you are experiencing severe symptoms after hours or on weekends, contact your primary care provider or urgent care. Reminder: there are virtual care options.

The WVU Medicine app is available for download in the Apple Store and Google Play store. In addition to the app, the questionnaire can be accessed at portal.wvumedicine.org. View the attached tip sheet for more details.
