Rudisill featured speaker at NISBRE
WVU School of Public Health associate professor of epidemiology and biostatistics Toni Rudisill presented at the National IDeA Symposium of Biomedical Research Excellence, held June 14-17, 2026, in Rockville, Maryland. This national meeting for the National Institutes of Health's Institutional Development Award (IDeA) program brings together researchers, administrators and trainees from across the U.S. to share scientific discoveries, professional development opportunities, and strategies for strengthening biomedical research capacity.
Rudisill was part of the plenary session, “From IDeA Support to Independent Research Career,” which highlighted the professional journeys of investigators from trainees to independent researchers to mentors. Other featured speakers representing IDeA-supported programs from Maine, Hawaii, and Louisiana, offered attendees diverse perspectives on building successful research careers in states that have historically received lower levels of NIH funding.
She represented the West Virginia Clinical and Translational Science Institute’s Clinical and Translational Research initiative with her presentation titled “The Road Always Under Construction: From IDeA Awardee to Funded Investigator.” Rudisill shared insights from her career path, including the role research support has played in her development as a funded investigator.
Rudisill's selection as a plenary speaker reflects the national recognition of her research accomplishments and her contributions to advancing public health and injury prevention research.
