Shaver named to assistant dean role, effective July 1
The West Virginia University School of Medicine has named a faculty member to newly created assistant dean role.
“It’s an exciting time for the School as we ensure that leadership reflects all of programs and keeps the best interest of our learners, from undergraduate to fellow, at heart. We’re proud that our faculty want to step up and serve – it shows our faculty embody the Mountaineer values,” said Clay Marsh, M.D., chancellor and executive dean for Health Sciences, said.
Erica Shaver, M.D., is the assistant dean and assistant Designated Institutional Official for Graduate Medical Education. The role serves as part of the key leadership team of the education mission for the School of Medicine, and works collaboratively with counterparts in the mission. She will be a principal leader for promoting the graduate medical education mission of the School of Medicine and for achieving the vision of being a leader in graduate medical education through innovation and scholarship.
Shaver, an alumnus of the Department of Emergency Medicine residency program, is the vice chair for education and training and the residency program director for the department.
