Student Spotlight - Juliet Hart
The innovative Master of Occupational Therapy (MOT) program at WVU is a 2+2.5 year program allowing students to achieve an entry-level professional degree in just 4.5 years. Students apply to the program in their sophomore year and begin OT education their junior year, completing both a bachelor's and master's degree. The unique curriculum employs active and experiential learning to prepare students for the rapidly changing practice arena.
Today's MOT student spotlight is Juliet Hart. Currently completing her final clinical fieldwork, Hart will graduate in December 2023. She notes that the WVU occupational therapy program has brought so much fulfillment to her life. "Not only did I meet great friends in the program who are passionate about our profession, but the program prepared us all for our fieldwork and for entry into our future careers."
During her time at WVU, Hart co-lead the WVU Relay for Life, raising $23,000 for the American Cancer Society. "Over the past two years, I have learned so much about our scope of practice and the value of OT, have gained an abundance of volunteer experience in the community through SOTA [Student Occupational Therapy Association], and have developed a deep appreciation for the field of occupational therapy."
Hart expressed her gratitude for the program, professors, and fieldwork supervisors who continue to educate us and advocate for our unique profession. Though my time in the program may be coming to an end, I will always hold a special place in my heart for WVU's occupational therapy program!
