Tennis classic winners announced

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. – Winners of the 16th annual WVU Medicine Frank Sabado, Jr, M.D. Tennis Classic, which raised $15,000 to fund scholarships and benefit WVU Medicine East, were recently announced.

The champions were Sonny Cruz in the men’s division and Tracy Housden in the women’s division. Finishing as men’s finalists were Craig Kershner and Brian Romine with Sabina Spicher finishing as the women’s finalist. Jana Bressler had the most aces.

The WVU Medicine East Foundation sponsors this annual fall event which is organized by group of local physicians and community leaders. Ernie Agbayani, M.D. and Roberto Reyna, M.D. served as this year’s co-chairs.

Since the tournament was established in 2004, over $200,000 has been raised to fund patient care equipment at Berkeley Medical Center, support the cancer comfort fund, and provide scholarships for area high school seniors studying pre-medicine.
