The most devastating complication a patient can face after total knee or hip replacement surgery is contracting a prosthetic joint infection or “PJI.” PJIs are very difficult to treat, but a new clinical trial at WVU Medicine is raising hopes for a breakthrough in successfully treating these stubborn infections.
