Valets pledge $120,000 to building of new Children’s Hospital

The WVU Medicine valets have pledged $120,000 to support the Children’s Hospital Building fund.

The pledge covers a five-year period. Each year, the valets donate all the tips they've been offered over the past year to the WVU Cancer Institute and WVU Medicine Children's.

Last year, the valets collected $47,760 and presented two checks of $23,880 to Albert L. Wright, Jr., president and CEO, WVU Health System. Since 2011, the valets have collected and donated close to $242,000.

The valets assist patients and visitors at WVU Medicine facilities.

“The valets’ commitment to supporting the future of Children’s Hospital is a powerful way to positively effect change in the lives of patients and their families who need our help, now more than ever,” said Amy Bush, chief operating officer, WVU Medicine Children’s. “This gift makes it possible for us to continue to advance our healthcare and prosperity for all West Virginians.”

A yet-to-be-identified space in the new hospital will be named after the valets. The new hospital is scheduled to open in 2021.
