Virtual mindfulness sessions to begin Sept. 29
Mindful Steps is a free six-week series designed to assist in developing and maintaining mindful resilience, mental fitness, and improved relaxation response. Participants can attend six one-hour sessions (consecutively or individually) that offer a variety of simple, yet practical, tools to be mindful in daily living.
The series will feature a team of expert instructors with decades of combined mindfulness experience, including neuroscientist Julie Brefczynski-Lewis, clinical therapist Laurel Faulkenberry, and yoga teacher Heidi Sherwin.
All sessions will take place virtually every Thursday at noon, from Sept. 29 to Nov. 3, with the series objectives as follows:
- Introduce a toolbox of mindfulness techniques
- Educate about stress resilience
- Develop mind/body connection skills
- Reconnect to the joy and meaning in the healthcare professions
- Improve personal and professional quality of life
Employees of WVU Medicine and affiliates are welcome to attend the series free of charge.
WVU Medicine employees and covered spouses enrolled in a company-sponsored medical plan will earn 100 Wellness Rewards Points for the plan year 2024 Wellness Rewards Program by attending four of six live Mindful Steps sessions.
