Weight management program available for employees

The WVU Medicine Medical and Surgical Weight Loss Center is offering a free, non-surgical weight management program orientation for employees. The program is being offered Tuesday, June 18, and Tuesday, June 25, from 5-7 p.m. in the John E. Jones Conference Center (Rooms A and C) at the WVU Health Sciences Center.

The program is medically-managed and for employees with a BMI (body mass index) of 27 or higher. It features a full spectrum of evidence-based medical and behavioral strategies customized for each individual. This introductory session will let participants know what to expect and help them choose from various options, including flexible eating patterns and the new Fresh Steps meal system, which will be available soon.

For those who join, co-pays may apply, so participants should check with their insurance plan to determine out-of-pocket costs. The meal system option will involve purchasing food, and you will have the option to choose additional services that may have fees not billable to insurance.

Registration for the orientation session is required. Call Susan Floyd at 304-293-4121. Support can be very helpful, so attendees may bring one guest to orientation.

This program is directed by Laura Davisson, MD, of the WVU Medicine Medical and Surgical Weight Loss Center.
