WVU dentistry residents participate in national program

Residents from the West Virginia University School of Dentistry recently participated in the Graduate Orthodontic Residents Program. The annual conference, hosted by the American Association of Orthodontists, provides an opportunity for dentistry residents from across the United States and Canada to complete specialty education and network with their peers.

This year’s event, held over three days in Ann Arbor, Michigan, welcomed just under 500 residents from more than 60 orthodontic programs. Activities included presentations on 3D printing, practice management, Clear Aligner Therapy and palatal expansion, among others, in addition to a vendor fair, banquet and recreational outings.

A third-year resident at WVU, Dr. Jenna Schneider gave a presentation about the American Association of Orthodontists Foundation’s mission. She serves as a senior advocate for the group. WVU first-year residents completed a pre-clinical lab course with a wire bending expert.

The WVU School of Dentistry offers residency programs in general practice, oral and maxillofacial surgery and pediatric dentistry.
