WVU Medicine Berkeley Medical Center announces 2019 nursing award winners

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. – 4 Million Reasons to Celebrate was the theme for National Nurses Week 2019. WVU Medicine Berkeley Medical Center celebrated the week with a ceremony on May 13 to announce the 2019 nursing award recipients.

Nursing Excellence awards were presented to four outstanding registered nurses, nominated by their peers and colleagues. These nurses demonstrate clinical excellence in providing compassionate and personalized care to their patients, exhibit a commitment to the profession of nursing, and display leadership behaviors that inspire others and help shape nursing practice.

The 2019 Nursing Excellence Award winners were Shelley Palkovic, R.N., maternal/child; Emily Nichols, R.N., surgical; Holly Harper, R.N., medical/surgical; and Ciara Boggs, R.N., critical care.

Nurse Technician Excellence Awards were also presented to four individuals during the ceremony. These awards are presented to nursing service staff members as an acknowledgement of appreciation and respect for their role in the nursing care at Berkeley Medical Center.

The 2019 Nurse Technician Excellence Award winners were Bonnie Sullivan, medical/surgical; Jacqueline Rivera, maternal/child; Justin Gaynor, surgical services; and Sherene Jackson, critical care.
