WVU Medicine, Quality Insights offer diabetes self-management program
WVU Medicine Berkeley Medical Center and Jefferson Medical Center are partnering with Quality Insights to offer a new diabetes self-management program workshop in Martinsburg starting in 2024.
The six-week program was developed at Stanford University and offers the tools and skills necessary to successfully manage diabetes or pre-diabetes. Anyone living with or caring for someone with diabetes is also encouraged to register for the program.
Skills covered include healthy eating, physical activity, stress management, meal planning, reading food labels and how to work with your healthcare provider. “The purpose of this program is to help people with diabetes feel better, do the things they want to do, and take control of their health,” Dana DeJarnett, WVU Medicine promotion coordinator, said.
The diabetes self-management program will be offered every Wednesday from 12:30 until 2:30 p.m. in the second-floor conference room of the Dorothy McCormack Center on the Berkeley Medical Center campus. The program starts Jan. 24 and continues through Feb. 28. There is no fee to participate, but registration is required.
To register or for more information, contact DeJarnett at dana.dejarnett@wvumedicine.org. The deadline to register is Jan. 19.
