WVU OT Alumni Spotlight - Kristen Gibson
Occupational Therapy education provides graduates the opportunity to enter practice in a variety of settings. Speciality certifications allow practitioners to build upon advanced clinicial skills. Completing additional 135 hours of additional coursework through the Klose Training, Kristen Gibson, MOT, OTR/L, CLT has earned the credential of Certified Lymphedema Therapist. Using this certification, Gibson is credentialled to provide complete decongestive therapy including compression bandaging and manual lymphatic drainage. Through this therapeutic intervention, Gibson notes that it's rewarding to see the impact on her clients' recovery.
Gibson is a 2018 alumnus of the WVU Division of Occupational Therapy. Since graduation, Gibson has been providing inpatient rehabilitation at Encompass Health in Morgantown, WV. Meshing inpatient rehabilitation and her lymphedema certification, she is excited to facilitate improvement in her clients. "We are always doing something different and learning something new," Gibson reported.
