BECKLEY, W. Va. WVU School of Nursing Beckley Campus recently participated in a Raleigh County health fair where students provided services to fair attendees.

Hillary Parcell, Beckley Campus Chair and associate professor, said that the health fair is a huge event for Raleigh County and its community.

During the event, sophomore and junior students taught attendees about breast health and took blood pressures. They also assisted by helping the community members in and out of the fair's facility.

More than 400 people attended the event. The Beckley-Raleigh County Health Department administered vaccines, providing 55 flu vaccines, nine RSV and multiple COVID-19 boosters to the community.

Pairs of glasses were collected and presented to the Lion’s Club as part of a program that gives glasses to those in need.

The community members said they loved the fair and its new activities like Senior Friends Scavenger Hunt and Snack Chat. The fair was engaging for the community and a successful event.
