NIH Compliance Policies 2026
April 20, 2026 -Updated NIH Publications Policies : Regarding Foreign Authors.
The following actions have been taken, or are planned to ensure compliance with NIH publication policies as they relate to foreign authorship:
- Award letters for all new projects receiving CoBRE support (including, but not limited to, Project and Pilot projects) will include the following statement:
"Principal Investigators are not permitted to use CoBRE funds to support collaborations with foreign institutions and must not attribute publications with foreign co-authors to CoBRE award P20GM144230."
o Award letters for existing projects will be amended to include this requirement.
o NIH publication policy requirements regarding foreign authors will be disseminated to users of all core facilities supported by CoBRE.
o These requirements have been posted on the Visual Sciences CoBRE website, along with citation and compliance resources.
o NIH publication policy requirements regarding foreign authors will be sent to all CoBRE members via email.
o NIH publication policy requirements regarding foreign authors will be discussed at a CoBRE meeting and shared in writing at that time.
