Ingredients
- 2 cups lukewarm milk
- 2 packages yeast
- 2 cans pinto beans, mashed
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 2 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp butter, melted
- 5-6 cups whole wheat flour
Instructions
- Open caned pinto beans and rinse. Place in a microwaveable bowl. Microwave for 2 minutes. Remove beans from microwave and mash with a fork.
- Combine the milk, beans, sugar, salt, butter, and 1 tbsp of the flour.
- Stir in the yeast and wait for it to bubble (if it doesn’t bubble in 5 minutes, get new yeast.)
- Stir in 5-6 cups of flour to make a kneadable dough.
- Knead 5-10 minutes, until satiny.
- Place in a greased bowl, turning to grease dough. Cover with a clean, damp cloth and let it rise until it doubles (approximately 1.5 hours.)
- Punch down and shape into 2 loaves.
- Place in a greased loaf pan, let rise again (approx. 1.5 hours.)
- Bake at 350 for 30-40 minutes or until thumps hollow on bottom.
