Lab leaders

Erica B. Shaver, M.D., currently serves as an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine as well as the Vice Chair of Education and Training and Program Director of the Emergency Medicine residency at WVU. She is a co-founder of WVU EM REAL who over the years of advising medical students in the application process and helping struggling residents succeed, found a passion in doing scholarly work surrounding these issues.

Christopher S. Kiefer, M.D., currently serves as an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine as well as the Chief of the Division of Education and Associate Program Director of the Emergency Medicine residency at WVU. He is a co-founder of WVU EM REAL who found himself captivated by the residency application process during his own match experience, and began working on exploration of that process during residency. Since returning to WVU in 2012, he and Dr. Shaver have been working together to build a niche in exploration of residency application and medical education in general.
