Health Sciences students gather in the Pylons

The Master of Science in Health Sciences program is a bridge to medical, dental and other health professional schools. 

The one-year graduate program is designed for pre-med, pre-dental, and pre-health students who are ready to strengthen their academic credentials and gain real-world experience. By helping students rebuild their GPA, prepare for the MCAT/DAT, and gain clinical exposure, this program acts as a pathway to professional school.

The MS in Health Sciences program attracts motivated, mission-driven students who are pursuing a career in healthcare through a nontraditional or nonlinear path. Our students are persistent and committed to making a difference in their communities.

How We Prepare Future Health Professionals

Rigorous, Medically-Aligned Curriculum
Students complete a core set of graduate-level science courses—including Physiology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology and Microbiology—that mirror foundational content in medical and dental school. Flexible electives allow students to tailor their experience and earn BCPM credit as recommended by professional school admissions committees.

Experiential Learning That Matters
Beyond the classroom, students gain meaningful exposure through clinical shadowing, community engagement and professional development activities. These experiences strengthen skills in communication, teamwork, cultural humility and ethical decision-making—essential attributes for future healthcare providers.

Qualified students who complete the MS in Health Sciences program are eligible for a guaranteed interview with the WVU School of Medicine, providing a direct pathway to continue their education and training at WVU.
