Conference Summary
Grand Rounds: Friday from 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM. Interesting cases with classic/rare findings (example: Dopamine Responsive Dystonia & Wilson's Disease) are presented by the senior residents besides interdepartmental faculty presentations to the Neurology department faculty, residents and medical students.
Friday Noon Conference: Friday afternoon from 12:00 to 1:00 PM
Third Friday of every month - Stroke conference - multidisciplinary conference to discuss monthly stroke activation
Remaining Fridays - Journal Club presented by faculty and residents
Didactic Conferences: Monday and Wednesday afternoons from 12:00 to 1:00 PM, presented by faculty and cover clinical neurology and Basic Sciences (Neuropathology, Neurochemistry, Neurophysiology).
Patient Safety/Quality Improvement Conference: Third Monday of alternate months from 12:00 - 1:00 PM.
Pediatric Neurology Conference: Fourth Monday monthly from 12:00 to 1:00 PM and it is presented by Pediatric Neurology faculty.
Stroke Conferences: Tuesday morning 7:00-8:00 AM Interdisciplinary Conferences held every week to include the departments of neurology, neurosurgery, interventional neuroradiology and emergency medicine. These conferences include Morbidity & Mortality, Research and Performance and Quality Improvement. Most conferences are presented by faculty members.
Localization Conference: First Monday of alternate months from 12:00 - 1:00 PM presented by faculty.
RITE/Board Preparation: First Monday of alternate months from 12:00 - 1:00 PM presented by faculty.
Neurocritical Care Conference: Every Tuesday 8:00 - 9:00 AM presented by faculty and residents.
Neuropathology Conference: Every Tuesday 8:00 - 9:00 AM presented by faculty.
Epilepsy Conference: Second & Fourth Tuesday 5:00 PM presented by interdepartmental faculty.
EEG Curriculum: Second Monday of alternating months from 12:00 - 1:00 PM presented by faculty and resident(s) on EMU service for the month.
EMG : Second Monday of alternating months from 12:00 - 1:00 PM presented by faculty.
RNI Research Partners Lecture Series: First Monday of every month from 12:00 – 1:00 PM. This conference series explores how clinicians and scientists within the WVU Neuroscience Institute successfully collaborate.
Research Curriculum: Dr. Najib leads and discusses the importance and methodology of research. Each resident is expected to have a research project completed during training.
Money Lectures: Interdepartmental series of seven lectures annually held on Wednesdays from 12:00 – 1:00 PM covering topics related to billing, loans, managing a private practice, etc.
Combined Emergency Department / Neurology Conference: Interdepartmental conference held every three months reviewing critical issues in the triage, work-up, and handoff of patients between the ED and Neurology services.
