What is an OTD Capstone?
An OTD capstone is a personalized opportunity that aligns with the OTD student's interests to gain real-world skills and complete a project in a specific area of practice. Across the 14-week experience, students complete a project based on the needs of the site. This experience takes place in the final semester of the OTD program. Specific areas can include:
- Clinical skills
- Research skills
- Administration
- Program development and evaluation
- Policy development
- Advocacy
- Education
- Leadership
Why Complete an OTD Capstone at WVU?
At WVU, we have partnered with 28 community and clinical sites and with hundreds of clients and staff. Mentors have included occupational therapists, social workers, educators, nurses, lactation consultants, addiction specialists, and administrators. Over the past three years, capstones have been completed in 5 different states across the United States.
