Department of Orthopaedics
The Fellowship is an extension of the Department of Orthopaedics Residency Program and the fellow will work closely with residents and medical students as an important part of their education. The fellow will have access to the Department’s Orthopaedic Learning Center andResident Library and lounge. Participation in the Department’s weekly Grand Rounds and Journal Club will be required.
Musculoskeletal Research Laboratory
The Musculoskeletal Research Laboratory is located in the Health Sciences Center and will be used for work on prosthetic joint infection and biofilm, biomechanics, cell therapies, and nanotechnologies. The fellow is expected to produce high quality research for publication and presentation at meetings and at least a half-day a week will be dedicated to research. The laboratory staff includes PhD faculty, research specialists, coordinators and assistants to assist with projects. The laboratory coordinates multidisciplinary research with the Departments of Microbiology & Immunology, Pathology, and Infectious Diseases and promotes collaboration with the West Virginia University College of Engineering.
