May 2019:
U.S. Senators Shelley Moore Capito and Joe Manchin announced $529,676 for West Virginia University through the U.S Department of Health and Human Services' (HHS) National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. Funding will support vaccine development against bacterial pathogens based on iron acquisition proteins from 2019-2024, and will total over $2.5 million in funding.
