DEV - Training Environment

Residency training takes place at Ruby Memorial Hospital and WVU Children's Hospital (attached to Ruby Memorial). This allows residents to complete all their training at a single location. Opportunities for community training are available, with all six of our community neurosurgical practices, for residents wanting to prepare specifically for a career in community practice.

Morgantown is the largest city in West Virginia, but still a small city by the standards of other states. It is a typical college town, serving as home to the main WVU campus, with unique charm and a vibrant and varied cultural scene. WVU athletics are a major social event for the city and the state and sports fans have an abundance of high level of athletics within minutes of work or home. West Virginia is blessed by an abundance of wildlife and pristine natural environments, and Morgantown is no exception. Morgantown has its own small airport but is largely serviced by Pittsburg International Airport. Direct flights are available from PIA to all over the country as well as Western Europe and Iceland. The airport is about one hour and fifteen minutes away from the hospital by car.

Morgantown and the area around the hospital are extremely safe and affordable. Most residents purchase their own home in one of the many neighborhoods around the city. Commuting to the hospital is generally by car, but there are ample options within walking distance.

We should feature pictures of the hospital and Morgantown and WVU here.
