Berry recognized for excellence in addiction treatment
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – James Berry, D.O., chair of the Department of Behavioral Medicine and Psychiatry in the WVU Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute, was recently recognized by the Addiction Policy Forum as a Pillar of Excellence in Addiction Treatment.
“It’s very special to me to receive an award like this,” Dr. Berry said. “It means a lot, especially with the tough year and a half we’ve had during COVID and the increase in overdose and substance use that came with it. It’s encouraging and a testament to the team that we’ve put together to be able to help people in West Virginia through our evidence-based treatment programs, educational outreach, and advocacy.”
The award was presented during the Addiction Policy Forum’s National Leadership Conference. The Addiction Policy Forum hosts the National Leadership Conference to gather Addiction Policy Forum’s network of patients, families, and grassroots leaders from across the country together for two days to build attendees’ leadership skills and knowledge around the latest science, innovations and strategies to address addiction.
In addition to raising awareness through panels and presentations, the conference serves as an opportunity for Addiction Policy Forum to recognize individuals who are fundamentally transforming the ways we address substance use disorder in our communities and across the nation.
