Department of Urology announces leadership change, national search to follow
Wallis Marsh, M.D., chair of the Department of Surgery, will serve as interim chair of the Department of Urology, effective July 1.
Marsh will be stepping into the role currently held by Dr. Zaslau as Zaslau steps down to focus on patient care.
“We’re incredibly fortunate to have had Dr. Zaslau’s vision and dedication for helping set the foundational tone for our Department of Urology and its academic programs,” Clay Marsh, M.D., chancellor and executive dean for WVU Health Sciences, said.
For the past 13 years, Zaslau has served as division chief and became the founding chair of the department in 2017. Under his leadership, the department achieved significant milestones, including national recognition as a high-performing specialty by U.S. News & World Report.
Before becoming a department, the Division of Urology was housed under the Department of Surgery.
“During this transition, we will continue to provide top-tier patient care and education as the leading urologic resource in the state and surrounding areas,” Wallis Marsh said.
