Dr. Ahmad Receives Golden Stethoscope Award at Uniontown Hospital

Afaq Ahmad, MD, who works in Emergency Services at WVU Medicine Uniontown Hospital, is the recipient of the hospital’s 2024 Golden Stethoscope Award.

The announcement and presentation of the award took place during a luncheon Tuesday (April 16), during which Dr. Ahmad and the other nominees for this year’s Golden Stethoscope were recognized. In addition to Dr. Ahmad, the nominees were Abdul Abassi, MD (cardiology); Rabelais Tatchum-Talom, MD (hospitalist); and Thomas Walther, MD (anesthesiology).

There were 353 nominations submitted in recognition of 51 physicians. Brandon Ball, MD, Medical Staff president, shared a few comments from the nomination forms, noting that the physicians were described as caring, smart, compassionate, easy to talk to, going above and beyond, knowledgeable, and treating patients with dignity and respect.
