The prestigious ELAM program is designed as a year-long fellowship for women to develop necessary skills for senior leadership roles in schools of medicine, dentistry, public health and pharmacy. The program places a unique focus on the challenges facing women in leadership positions.

Dr. Eggleston is also an associate professor in the School of Medicine Department of Medicine, director of the WVU Medicine Center for Diabetes and Metabolic Health and chief of diabetes and obesity prevention for WVU Health Sciences. ELAM was established in 1995 to offer leadership training and networking and mentoring opportunities with a purpose of preparing women to lead in academic health centers. The program continues the legacy of advancing women in medicine that began in 1850 with the founding of the Female Medical College of Pennsylvania, the nation’s first women’s medical school and a predecessor of today’s Drexel University College of Medicine. Over 1,200 alumnae of the program serve in leadership positions around the world. For more information on the ELAM program, visit drexel.edu/elam.
