Faculty invited to support and attend the M.D. White Coat Ceremony

The John W. Traubert M.D. White Coat Ceremony for the Class of 2025 takes place at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 11 at the Metropolitan Theatre in downtown Morgantown.

School of Medicine faculty have several ways to support the students as they transition to the clinical portion of learning, including sponsoring a white coat and writing a simple note. This tradition is a hallmark of the ceremony, and it’s a vital connection between experienced clinicians and those just starting their journey through clerkships.

Those words of encouragement and wisdom go a long way to help students reaffirm their purpose and pursuit of knowledge.

To be a sponsor of the M.D. White Coat Ceremony, view options at the WVU Foundation give page.

Most importantly, be sure to add your personal note in the comments section and alumni staff will fill out the notecard for you.

Additionally, faculty can attend the Ceremony to provide support for the students and join in celebrating their achievements in transitioning to clinical learning. Those who wish to attend the Ceremony will need to fill out the form to RSVP

Faculty should arrive at the Metropolitan Theatre no later than 10 a.m. dressed in white coats and look for faculty check-in signs. From there they will be seated in a reserved section and will be recognized from the podium.

There’s a reception to follow the Ceremony at the Erickson Alumni Center.
