GHHS Solidarity Week slated for Feb. 15 to Feb. 19

The West Virginia University chapter of the Gold Humanism Honor Society recently announced their participation in celebrating the national Gold Humanism Solidarity Week for Compassionate Patient Care.

All lectures will take place on Zoom from noon until 1 p.m. each day. Topics range during the week there are both internal and external speakers.

The full schedule is as follows:

• Monday, Feb. 15th – Physician Leadership in Creating a More Equitable Health Care Future with Dr. Patrice Harris
• Tuesday, Feb. 16th – History and Development of Pertussis Vaccines with Megan DeJong and Dr. Heath Damron
• Wednesday, Feb. 17th – Opioid Use in Mothers and Pregnant Women with Dr. David Baltierra
• Thursday, Feb. 18th – Professional Advocacy with Dr. Erica Froyd
• Friday, Feb. 19th – TBD

The national Gold Humanism Honor Society office established National Solidarity Day for Compassionate Care in 2011 to highlight the nation-wide movement promoting provider-patient relationships based on caring, personalization and mutual respect.

Many chapters have since expanded the day to a week-long celebration that highlights the ongoing humanistic impact members have in their communities.
