Jane Wiseman Freeman and Janet Anderson Retire at WVU School of Medicine Charleston Campus

West Virginia University School of Medicine’s Charleston Campus congratulates Jane Wiseman Freeman and Janet Anderson on their retirement from the school’s department of surgery after many years of dedicated service.

Freeman served as the administrator for the department of surgery for more than 45 years, and Anderson served as an administrative assistant for the department for 27 years.

The Charleston Campus of the WVU Health Sciences Center was formed in 1972 as part of a federal rural health initiative to expand medical schools beyond the traditional campus.  Freeman began her role at WVU when the Health Sciences Center building was dedicated in 1977, playing an important staff role in the leadership of the academic and clinical campus.

In a touching email, Anderson expressed thanks for the opportunity to be a part of the work at the school of medicine, saying “It has been my honor and privilege to work, love, pray, and serve you all in many different ways for so long.”

Bryan K. Richmond, MD, MBA, FACS, The Bert Bradford Chair and a Professor of the Department of Surgery at WVU’s School of Medicine Charleston Campus, presented the ladies with plaques in honor of their many years of service to the department, the school and to the many faculty, students and staff they have worked with throughout the years.
