Stevens named new chief of Division of Infectious Diseases

Michael Stevens, M.D., professor in the Department of Medicine, has been appointed chief of the Division of Infectious Diseases. He obtained his medical and Master of Public Health degrees from Virginia Commonwealth University, where he served as hospital epidemiologist and director of the Antimicrobial Stewardship Program, as well as director of the Travel and Tropical Medicine Clinic.

He came to WVU two years ago as the system healthcare epidemiologist and is also an associate chief quality officer. He is currently chair of the Planning Committee for the Society for Healthcare Epidemiology’s Annual Meeting.
