Tumor Board - Every Thursday, 8th Floor Classroom, 12:00-1:00pm. Nov. 15th: “Chondrosarcoma” presented by Dr. Terrence Reidy (Hem/Onc) and Dr. Jeffrey Stead (Pathology).

 

PEDS Grand Rounds is broadcast from Morgantown every Wednesday 8-9 am. The first Wednesday is at the board room on the 8th floor of BMC.  Remaining sessions held at the ED conference room in ED of BMC.  If you are on a Pediatrics Week, please plan to attend.

 

Community Mini-Med School – Tues., Nov. 13th, 7:00pm, in Eastern HSC Auditorium.  Topic: “Good Health is a Simple Year Round Plan…Then Hit ‘Repeat’” presented by Dr. Mark Cucuzzella (WVU Medicine Center for Diabetes and Metabolic Health) and Dana DeJarnett (Health Promotion Coordinator-BMC Wellness Center).

 

Grand Rounds – Mon., Nov. 19th, 12-1pm, in BMC 8th Floor Classroom.  Topic: “Advances in Ovarian Cancer” presented by Dr. Neil Rosenshein, Gyn/Onc, BMC.

 

EPMS – Wed., Nov. 14th, at Holiday Inn-Martinsburg.  Topic: “Lung Cancer: Screening to Curative Resection” presented by Dr. Ghulam Abbas, Chief of Thoracic Surgery-WVU. 5:30pm-Registration, 6:00pm-Lecture, 7:00pm-Dinner.  RSVP to Carol Joseph, 304-671-3837, if you plan to attend.

 

Literature and Medicine Book Club – Tues., Nov. 20th, 5:30pm, in BMC Meeting Room 1.  Book selection: The Language of Kindness: A Nurse’s Story by Christie Watson.  If interested in participating, contact April Reynolds, L&D Nursing Director, atareynold@wvumedicine.org to request a copy of the book.

Volunteer/Community Service Opportunities

Stepping Stones/Good Samaritan Free Clinic – Volunteers needed every Wednesday at 5pm and first Tuesday of each month at 5pm.  New location: 601 S. Raleigh Street, Martinsburg.  To volunteer or for additional information: Ayita Verna (agverna@mix.wvu.edu).

 

Fun Volunteer Opportunity – Jefferson County Community Ministries Food Pantry, 238 W. Washington Street, Charles Town.  3rdSaturday of each month, beginning at 10am.  Volunteers will work with Dr. Maddie Humerick, Chef Scott, and others to assist the food pantry patrons to improve their nutrition status with monthly cooking demonstrations.
