WV AHEC Director Sandra Pope Receives WVU Health Sciences Chancellor’s Award

Sandra Y. Pope, MSW, Director of WV Area Health Education Centers at West Virginia University’s Health Sciences Charleston Campus is one of twelve individuals and one team being honored with Chancellor’s Awards for their significant contributions to its mission.

Pope will be recognized with the 2022 Chancellor’s Award for Administrative/Managerial.

Each year, the Chancellor’s Awards and WISH Awards honor faculty and staff who have been recognized by their peers for their outstanding accomplishments. Winners were nominated by their peers and selected by their respective achievement award committees.

“It has been our pleasure to work with Ms. Pope for many years in Charleston,” said John C. Linton, PhD, ABPP, Associate Vice President for Health Sciences and Dean of the School of Medicine at West Virginia University’s Charleston Campus.  “She is a prime example of what a dedicated and compassionate colleague can accomplish. Her ability to see the small details and the big picture has made her an ideal leader of such an important Health Education Center in our region. I am delighted that she is being recognized by this well-deserved appreciation and honor.”

Pope also joins two individuals who will be honored with WISH (Women in Science & Health) Awards during a ceremony to be held Wednesday, August 31.
