Career Opportunities
Per the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the median salary for a clinical laboratory technologist or technician in May 2021 was $57,800/year, with an entry requirement (for a technologist) of a baccalaureate degree and typically licensure. The number of jobs for clinical laboratory technologists and technicians in 2020 was 335,500, with the expected addition of 36,500 additional positions by 2030 (11% growth). Between anticipated growth and normal attrition, approximately 25,900 job openings are anticipated each year throughout the decade.
Biomedical laboratory diagnostics offers career pathways with many diverse specializations and job opportunities, for example:

Graduates from the program have the skill and education to pursue higher level job positions, such as management. They may also choose to continue their education in medical or dental school, a pathologists' assistant program, or basic sciences fields of study.
The three-year placement rate, defined as finding employment in the field or a closely related field and/or continuing their education, is 100% for graduates of the undergraduate Biomedical Laboratory Diagnostics program. Program outcome data specific to the Master of Science (MS) in Medical Laboratory Science will be provided once it is available.
